Ham Lake event celebrates writers

A Ham Lake-based late October event is shining a spotlight on authors and their books.

An Evening with Friends and Authors is a new gala and market experience. The event is put together by The Friends of the Anoka County Library, and proceeds will be used to maintain the Library.

The event will include a seated meal, speeches from some of the authors, a silent auction, book signings, a book market, and a raffle.

The dinner options include salad, beef, chicken, and pasta dishes, a berry and apple crisp with vanilla flavored ice cream, and a chocolate torte. A cocktail hour will also have snacks available. A single drink pass will also be included with each ticket.

The keynote speaker for the evening is Allen Eskens, who boasts 10 bestselling books. Other noted authors attending the gala include June Gossler Anderson, Lorna Landvik, and Loretta Ellsworth.

Guests are asked to dress somewhere within the range of business casual to formal. A full breakdown of the schedule, as well as ticket access, is available through Eventbrite. Individual tickets, including fees, are $81.88. A table for a group of eight can be purchased for $71.78 per person.

The venue is Ham Lake’s Majestic Oaks Golf Club. Many authors will hire a printing service to produce a number of business cards before going to markets and showcases like this one.

The event will be on Thursday, October 23 between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
