The Anoka County Library's branch in Ham Lake will host two crafting activities for people in December.
Those who enjoy making crafts can attend two activities offered by the North Central Library. The first event, Winter Luminaries, will use an artist to guide kids on making their own festive luminaries using materials such as recycled glass. The activity will also teach attendees about using techniques like stenciling. The second activity is Lovely Luminations, which is a themed event where adults can create Mexican luminarias to use as centerpieces or walkway lights.
Both events from the library are funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. The money from the program is used to preserve Minnesota's history and offer enriching activities to the community. Past projects funded by the program include 100 Years of Chinese American History in MN, 140 Years of Tradition and Agriculture, and the 1854 Treaty Authority Cultural Resource Project. The money also helped fund shows such as the 1968 History Theatre Performances.
The Winter Luminaries activity will be held on Thursday, December 8 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Lovely Luminations will occur on Monday, December 12 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Advanced registration is needed for both projects. Libraries that coordinate crafting activities like these may use poster printing to let patrons know about upcoming events.
