Road construction in and around Farmington Hills is likely to snarl traffic in coming weeks, according to an article dated May 30, 2013.
With warmer, dryer weather starting, road work starts up as well. Projects are planned for Livonia, Plymouth and Plymouth Township, Farmington, and Farmington Hills.
In Farmington Hills, 14 Mile will be resurfaced between Country Way and Haggerty The project is scheduled to begin sometime after the Fourth of July and should be finished in November.
A lot of work has already been done on Grove Street, where the roadway from Orchard to Grand River is already gone, as is a part of the Grove Retail Center parking lot. Grove will be transformed into a boulevard with angle parking and a center island. Water mains will be replaced and the area will have new landscaping and brick pavers as sidewalks.
Another Farmington Hills project is scheduled around Oakland and Warner streets, where roads and water mains will be replaced. A short stretch of Warner connecting Grand River and to Farmington’s historic district will be improved, with new landscaping, better lighting, and brick pavers going in.
All of these projects are likely to benefit from drivers being kept informed, so city officials might consider working with a flyer printing service to create a mailer for residents, informing them of the projects, where they are located, and how long the roads will be closed to traffic. People who are in the know are much less likely to be irritated by the various projects and the inconvenience they might cause than those who do not know what’s happening.
