Farmington writers to attend creative workshop

Creative writers will have a chance to try something new at an upcoming workshop.

Wine Down and Write is a creative writing workshop hosted by The Detroit Writing Room. It is an event for people interested in undertaking sensory-based exercises to inspire their writing.

Led by Stephanie Steinberg, owner of The Detroit Writing Room, this class will work through a series of writing prompts built around the five senses. Attendees will observe, reflect, and write as they experience the aromas, flavors, and textures presented to them via wine. The workshop will also highlight perspective-based exercises, including imaginative writing that will ask writers to think from the perspective of an inanimate object (a bottle of wine in a home, for example), as well as reflective writing that will draw from personal memories.

Each ticket includes a flight of three 2.5 ounce pours, selected from a list of 32 available wines. Attendees will want to bring a notebook or other writing material to use during the class. Pens will be provided, and organizers of writing events like this often use them as an opportunity to share promotional Pens.

Wine Down and Write is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25 at the Sante Wine Tasting Room in Farmington, near Farmington Hills, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. General admission is $55 and street parking is free.
