Tanya Stephens, the Yellow Wall Dub Squad, and King Hopeton will be at the Kola Lounge to get everyone up and dancing.
Jamaica-born Tanya Stephens is one of reggae's most influential artists, bursting onto the scene in the 1990s. Well-known in the Caribbean, Stephens made a breakthrough to intentional attention with “Rebelution,” her fifth album. A review of the work said,
“Strong lyrics and musical versatility puts Stephens in the front running to become reggae ambassador to the world.”
Also on the bill are the Yellow Wall Dub Squad, a group comprised of studio session musicians from Jamaica. The ensemble tours Jamaica continuously, backing such greats as The Abyssinians, Half Pint, Tanya Stephens, and more. The band offers an eclectic setlist of hits from the rockers, ska, and rock steady eras.
King Hopeton was also born in Jamaica, where he was with the band Rapture, as a multi-instrumentalist. Rapture released its first album in 1988. Later, he joined a band called United Force, and in 1999, Sony Records (Germany) gave him the chance to record his first album.
The concert is set to begin at 8:00 pm on March 6, and wind up at 2:00 am on March 7. The venue is Kola Restaurant & Ultra Lounge on Northwestern Highway in Farmington Hills. Poster printing is often used to create colorful advertising for this type of event.
