Oakland Community College to stage mystery dinner

The Culinary Studies Institute at Oakland Community College in Farmington Hills has come up with a fun way for people to sample their food - a dinner with a murder mystery theme.

Participants do not need to bring their revolvers, lead pipes, or candlesticks to this Clue-inspired meal, just a good appetite and a desire to either identify the culprit, or to be a suspect in the crime.

Drinks and food will be used to help discover the perpetrator of the crime. Also, entertainment will be provided aimed at helping incriminate a suspect. The evening of detective work will feature a five-course meal with wine to accompany each course. There will also be a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres served, and attendees are encouraged to give false names and come dressed as their favorite characters.

The Culinary Studies Institute prepares students careers as chefs, and features a number of events every year. The institute also runs several on-campus restaurants and bakeries.

The crime takes place April 16 at 6:00 pm, on the Orchard Ridge Campus of Oakland Community College, located in Farmington, on the third floor of the J Building/Tirrell Hall. Tickets are $55 per person, though current students will receive a $5 discount. Event organizers could work with brochure printers on a booklet that describes great mysteries of the past, and gives the rules of the game.
