Creatures of the night have some outings in Farmington Hills designed just for them, because Farmington Hills' Heritage Park will be the site of Full Moon walks for the next three months. The outings start tonight, and will continue in October and November.
The ‘Full Moon Friday Night Hike’, as the event is known, takes place on the Fridays that fall closest to the full moon. The moon is full on September 9th, so the walk is slated for this evening. Participants are encouraged not to bring flashlights, since games will be played to help people's eyes adjust to the dark. Once people can see in the dark, they will be able to enjoy a leisurely hike, listen to the nocturnal activities in the park, and watch the moon and stars.
Heritage Park officials could work with a poster printing company to create items to place around town to highlight the event. The Posters could double as intriguing works of art featuring the moon and stars.
The hikes are designed with families in mind, and for children aged five and up. The cost is $3 per person, and the October hike will take place on the 10th, while November's walk is scheduled for the 7th. For an additional $5, hikers attending in October can enjoy a hayride.
Participants for tonight’s walk should meet at Heritage Park's Nature Center before it begins at 8:30 pm, though registration is being held at Costick Center.Get a Free Quote for Posters
