Farmington Hills non-profit offers Halloween event

Farmington Hills' CARES, a non-profit billing itself as a "campus of hope," will open its campus for the third time for a Trunk or Treat event later this month.

In addition to the usual Trunk of Treat activities, there will be several interesting attractions.

The name CARES is an acronym of community, action, resources, empowerment, and services. The principles of these five words are what the CARES campus tries to follow. The campus provides support services for families and individuals in need, including providing them with food, clothing, job education, and training, as well as access to other local support services. It also offers affordable and integrated medical and behavioral care.

At the Trunk or Treat event, adults will decorate the backs of their trunks, load up on candy, and pass the treats out to children dressed in costumes as they walk by. It is designed to be safer than traditional trick-or-treating.

Also, CARES has invited several businesses to the event to promote themselves. As for other activities, the CARES site promises a performance by Do Wop Dan and the Westside Rod & Custom Car Club will visit with cars decorated for Halloween.

The event will take place on Sunday, October 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at 27835 Shiawassee Street in Farmington Hills. Businesses that want to promote themselves at events such as these may be interested in getting Promotional Products to hand out.
