A local tour will be offering visitors an opportunity to engage with updated exhibits and personal survivor testimonies.
The Zekelman Holocaust Center Tour is organized by the InterFaith Leadership Council's Education Committee. It aims to educate attendees on the Holocaust and help them remember its victims.
The program begins at 2:00 pm at The Zekelman Holocaust Center and includes a docent-led tour of the updated exhibits. These exhibits provide a comprehensive view of the Holocaust’s impact, emphasizing the human stories behind the history. Attendees will see firsthand how victims of the Holocaust were real individuals with families, friends, and communities whose lives were forever altered or lost.
Following the tour, participants will hear from Irene Miller, a Michigan-based Holocaust survivor. Miller’s testimony offers a deeply personal perspective on the events of the Holocaust, connecting historical facts to lived experience. Her story underscores both the devastation endured and the resilience shown by survivors in the face of unimaginable hardship.
The event concludes at 4:15 pm, offering visitors a focused and meaningful opportunity to reflect on the significance of remembrance. Attendance requires the completion of a photo release form, which must be signed and submitted by January 3, 2025. The form is available online and should be emailed to Jen James at jenj@detroitinterfaithcouncil.com. Printing services can be used to put design Forms.
The Zekelman Holocaust Center’s guided tour and educational program will be on Sunday, January 5, 2025 in Farmington Hills.
