Holiday musical celebration coming to Frederick

Frederick is getting ready to dive into the holidays with the music of a much-loved artist.

John Denver's music is full of the magic of Christmas, and now audiences in Frederick can enjoy his artistry once again. Chris Collins is one of the world's leading interpreters of Denver's music, and will be presenting his version of the Rocky Mountain Christmas Show. Collins and his band, Boulder Canyon, will perform seasonal numbers such as “White Christmas,” “Aspenglow,” “Christmas for Cowboys,” and “I'll Be Home for Christmas.” He will also sing many of Denver's most popular hits, such as “Rocky Mountain High,” and “Country Roads.”

John Denver's career was at its zenith in the 1970s, when he had four songs go to No. 1 on the charts. His 1975 television special, “Rocky Mountain Christmas,” drew an audience of over 65 million, which was a record for the time.

A review of Collins' work says that he has a vocal tone that resembles that of Denver, as well as the same type of natural delivery. These qualities enable him to connect with his audiences in much the same way Denver did, touching them with his genuineness and personality.

A John Denver Christmas with Chris Collins and Boulder Canyon is set for December 6 at 7:30 pm, at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick. Banner printing can be used to create decorations for events like this.
