Special tour in Beltsville

A special tour is coming up in Beltsville that will give attendees an extensive look at the workings of a distillery.

Schmidt Spirits distillery produces both gin and whiskey, and is now offering a tour for people who would like to learn about the science and craft of making these products. The tour guide will be either Brian J. Roan, the Master Distiller, or Arthur Schmidt, the distillery’s Founder and President.

The tour will give attendees a close-up look at the machinery used to distill spirits and mash grains. They will also visit the barrel room where the spirits are aged and finished. The final step in the day is a guided tasting of the six spirits made at Schmidt’s Distillery. The six are the Silver whiskey, made with one-third wheat mash and two-thirds rye; Viridian gin, with citrus and lavender notes; Cobalt, a rye whiskey; Agua Hibisco, a cordial flavored with hibiscus; Inkwell Wheated Red Corn Whiskey; and Inkwell Wheated Red Corn Bourbon.

People on the tour will also receive a souvenir glass, and are invited to visit the tasting room to enjoy housemade cocktails after the tour ends. Since the distillery is small, tours are limited to 12 participants, who must be 21 and over to consume alcohol. A valid ID is required.

The tour is scheduled for Sunday, March 5, from 3.00 pm until 4.00 pm. Organizers of events of this type can use brochure printing to create product listings for tour attendees.
