New month sees arrival of popular play

Tomorrow evening will see a wonderful family event come to Maryland. Written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, directed by Larry Simmons, and produced by Maureen Rogers, ‘Auntie Mame’ is one of the United States’ most beloved musicals and has arguably set the stage for many of the Broadway comedies that followed it.

In the play, the title character is an incredible, warm-hearted beauty who sparkles on stage, but is a true scatterbrain from 1928. She is filled with gaiety and creates some madcap adventures, although she is truly devoted to her nephew, the darling Patrick Dennis.

The likeable character survives rises and falls, as well as a brief but pleasant marriage to a Southerner, and is filled with undying spirit, outstanding courage, and open kindness for everyone she met.

Poster printing, brochure printing, and flyer printing may have been used to promote this popular play to people of this community and the surrounding regions. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, students, and duty military. Free parking is also available.

Auntie Mame runs on weekends only from tomorrow, November 2, until Sunday, November 18, with regular performances starting at 8:00 pm at the Laurel Mill Playhouse, just a short journey from Beltsville. To order tickets, or for additional information, please visit the Laurel Mill Playhouse website or call the box office at 301-452-2557 during regular hours.

Performances include two matinee seatings, taking place on November 4 and on November 18, both at 2:00 pm.
