Presented by Mer Events, the Language Exchange Happy Hour and Friending will take place a short distance from Beltsville.
The event brings people of various cultures and languages together from across the region to meet and talk, with appreciation of the differences and experiences of people with diverse backgrounds. Participants will be assigned to different tables with specific languages represented. Language ambassadors will be at the event to help with translation, as people are learning about each other and making new acquaintances and friends.
Upon the completion of formalities, attendees will be rotated from table to table, giving everyone a chance to meet. English should be used whenever possible but organizers stress the importance of acceptance and learning together.
Posters are ideal signage to point out specific locations and pertinent information at community and private events. The poster printing is handled by local Print shops and can be designed in any format and size required. The posters are easily moved so they are suitable for use at various times.
A portion of proceeds will benefit the restaurant and beverage industries that have been impacted by the pandemic.
The Language Exchange Happy Hour and Friending will take place next Wednesday, July 14, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at Kachis Tacos and Cantina. Admission price is $10.00 which includes one taco and one margarita. Tickets may be purchased on the Eventbrite listing.
