Skher Brown plans to use Presidents inauguration for Capoeira Angola

Skher Brown, the leader of the International Capoeira Foundation of Baltimore, Maryland has asked five organizers of the National Day of Service to help the Capoeira Foundation paint and relocate to the new studio. The event will coincide with President Barack Obama’s inauguration the next day (January 20), and is focused heavily around giving back to the community.

Over 30 service events will be held across Maryland, with Brown’s project being just one of them. These and thousands of other national events will make up the National Day of Service. The full list of volunteer events can be found on the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) website, and people should not be surprised to see promotional poster printing about the events either.

Volunteers in Montgomery County have already majorly prepared for the event and will be collecting food donations on January 19 and 20 for Manna Food Center at all 27 Giant grocery stores. The drive is well anticipated, as it has been planned since mid-November. Seeing as the drive runs on the day of the service, many such as Jim Perkins (Giant’s Montgomery County district director) believe that the event will be a huge success.

Although almost any type of food donation will be gratefully received, people are strongly encouraged to donate healthy food, as First Lady Michelle Obama is an advocate for healthy eating. Brown is still waiting to see if he will receive his five volunteers for the event.
