Food Network star Giada de Laurentiis recently announced she plans to open a restaurant in Baltimore.
The conversation occurred when the chef was participating in a live video on the network’s Facebook page. She took questions from the audience as she baked, and was asked if she would consider opening additional restaurants.
She replied she would be opening an eatery in Baltimore some time in 2018, though she could not say why she had chosen Charm City as the location. De Laurentiis recently opened her first establishment, Giada, in Las Vegas at the Cromwell Hotel. Caesars Entertainment Corporation owns the Cromwell.
The corporation is also the owner of the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, and plans to bring another chef on board to open an additional restaurant. Currently, there are several familiar Food Network chefs with restaurants at the casino: Guy Fieri, host of ‘Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives’ has two, and John Besh and Aaron Sanchez have teamed up to create Johnny Sanchez. Sanchez is a judge on the cooking competition show ‘Chopped’.
Yet another celebrity chef will join the lineup at the Horseshoe this year, when Gordon Ramsay Steak takes over the space currently occupied by Jack Binion’s Steak. Ramsay anticipates having the place up and running by year’s end.
