Businesses that need loans to purchase equipment will no longer have to travel to Towson to talk to a lender, since SunTrust, which specializes in equipment financing, recently moved from there to downtown Baltimore.
The finance group, which has 55 employees, left its offices on Joppa Road to relocate to East Baltimore Street. SunTrust already has office space on the building's 23rd floor, and a reorganization to make better use of space allowed the equipment finance personnel to join other SunTrust employees downtown. The new office opened October 27.
At the downtown location, SunTrust employs relationship managers, whose job it is to help the company's clients assess the various services the bank offers. Such managers were not available at the Towson site, so moving the equipment finance experts downtown will enable the company to offer all its services in one place.
In addition, SunTrust believes the move might draw talented individuals who might want to work for them. The firm’s CEO for the region, Scott Wilfong, noted that there is a renewed interest in revitalizing urban areas across the nation, and many younger people are moving back to the cities, potentially putting SunTrust in an area where people might like to work.
SunTrust officials could work with a business card printing company to have new cards printed for employees to reflect the new address.
