Baltimore to welcome popular Mexican restaurant

R&R Taqueria, a popular Mexican restaurant, will be opening its first location in Baltimore this year. Rodrigo Albarran is both chef and owner of the eatery, and the Baltimore store will be his third. He is taking over premises at 30 Light Street in the city's downtown.

Albarran opened his first restaurant in 2009 in a gas station in Elkridge. Since then, Guy Fieri has visited R&R Taqueria for a segment of his popular ‘Diners, Drive-ins and Dives’ television show, which is broadcast on the Food Network. The network also called R&R Taqueria one of the five best restaurants in the country for Mexican cuisine.

In 2013, Albarran opened a second location in Perry Hall, and relocated the original taqueria to a shopping mall several years ago. The chain is known for its assorted tacos, fresh salsas, and handmade tortillas. Albarran said he believes he has been successful because he's serving food he loves.

The Baltimore location will seat about 100 patrons in a 3,500 square-foot space. Albarran said the design will be contemporary, marking a departure from his other locations. He plans to incorporate shipping containers into the design as a nod to Baltimore.

Albarran hopes to have his Baltimore location open by the end of October this year. Businesses like this can help build brand awareness by distributing Promotional Products to their first customers.
