Baltimore to host traditional music fest

The 4th Annual Baltimore Old Time Music Festival will be held at the Creative Alliance organization in March.

The Baltimore Old Time Music Festival is a two-day event where people can hear from talented performers and partake in music-themed workshops. This year’s line-up will include Ginny Hawker, Ben Hunter, and Phil Wiggins. Musicians who visit the event can participate in open jam sessions with other instrument-playing attendees. Guests may also attend a square-dancing party at the fest in honor of Eileen Carson Schatz.

There will be several workshops open to all levels of musicians at the festival, such as Mountain Dulcimer with Sarah Kate Morgan and Old Time Rhythm with Max Malone. Those who are advanced performers can partake in classes like Old Time Banjo with Chris Coole and Old Time Fiddle with John Showman. A few of the workshops will have loaner instruments on hand for any eventgoers without instruments of their own.

The music festival will take place from Friday, March 10 to Saturday, March 11. There will also be a pre-festival party held at the Waverly Brewing Co. on Thursday, March 9. A weekend pass for the fest costs $90 per person, and those under 12 may enter for free. Organizations that coordinate musical experiences like this may use flyer printing to increase awareness for their concerts and workshops.
