Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) has partnered with bike-share company Zagster to expand on the services available for travelers.
The two organizations worked together to create a dock – located close to the light rail stop outside BWI's international terminal – for 10 of Boston-based Zagster's bicycles. The cost to rent a bike is $5 per day, with long-term passes available for $15 per month or $50 per year.
For people just changing planes, or those in a hurry to catch a flight or get home from one, having bicycles available at the airport may not seem like a big deal. However, for those people who may have to wait hours for a connecting flight, being able to get outside and take a ride may be an ideal way to spend the time.
There is a trail that loops around the airport; it is 12.5 miles in length and has been in use since its completion in 1994. Zagster and the airport believe most users will be people with a long layover between flights, but also believes that airport employees will want to take a ride on their breaks or after work. Further, the site also believes that people who live or work near the airport might enjoy using the bikes to explore the trail more fully.
Zagster and BWI could work with brochure printers to create Booklets to stock racks in the airport, describing the program.Get a Free Quote for Booklets
