Fitchburg workshop offered to parents of special needs kids
A Fitchburg activity may help parents of children with special needs to put a road map together for the way ahead.
The “Stop It” workshop will introduce parents and caregivers to the behaviors that may cause more harm than help to a child with developmental, physical or other disabilities. It will be focused on helping them find ways for their child to develop their independence, and it is open to anyone who feels it may be useful to them.
The activity will explore the ways well-intentioned parents and caregivers can actually present barriers to their child developing their independence. They will discuss why this can happen, how these can be counterproductive, and also ways to overcome them. They will discover why it is often important for individuals with a disability to be as self-sufficient as possible, and they can ask questions and share their own story.
Attending a class or workshop may provide helpful tips and advice for those caring for special needs kids. It also offers a chance to meet others in the same boat, and a flyer printing company will be able to lend a hand in getting the word out to those who may find the function useful.
LUK, Inc., which is located at 545 Westminster Street in Fitchburg, will be offering this class on Thursday, January 25. It has a scheduled start time of 11:30 am.
