Richmond workshops to introduce principles of play therapy

Play therapy is one of the items in a therapist or counselor’s toolbox, and it will be the focus of four days of training planned for the Richmond area.

Child-centered play therapy (CCPT) is a technique used by mental health professionals when working with children. It tends to be most helpful when used with kids from the ages of 2 to 11, and the CCPT training class will provide a deep dive into the subject.

Learners in the workshop will review the history and fundamentals of CCPT, and they will also be offered strategies for incorporating it into their own practice. At the end of the learning, the attendees will all be able to complete a session with their clients. Building and equipping a therapeutic classroom will be discussed, and as the course is split up into two parts, the participants will be able to get started and then join together once again to review their progress.

Continuing education opportunities allow professionals in many fields to ensure they are up to date. Training manuals, certificates of completion, promotional Pens, and other materials will be available at a local Print shop.

Parsons Counseling and Play Therapy Center will be offering this CCPT workshop series starting on January 19 and 20. The final two dates will be February 4 and 24, and it will be on offer at 292 Glades Road in Brea.
