Every Groundhog Day, these weather forecasting rodents predict the duration of winter by seeing their shadow, and this has provided inspiration for a local activity.
The Madison County Library’s branch, located at 507 Main Street in Richmond will be hosting a special creative event for elementary school-age kids. It will see them explore the world of shadow puppetry, which is part of the cultural tradition of many countries all over the world.
The library will have a variety of crafting materials set out for kids to use to construct their own shadow puppets, and once their projects are complete, they can test them out on the stage that will be provided for the occasion. Advance registration is not required, and while larger groups may be accommodated, it would be appreciated if the organizers were contacted ahead of time. They can be reached by members of the public at 859-623-6704.
One of the roles of a library’s staff is often to come up with creative program ideas. Stationery printers will be pleased to lend a hand by supplying any custom printed materials needed to make an activity a success.
The Madison County Public Library has made arrangements to welcome kids for this session on the evening of Monday, January 31. It will be running from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
