Richmond reminded to include gift of life on their list

After the holidays are over, the decorations packed away, and the tree taken down, residents of Richmond may find they still have one gift left on their list to give. It will only take a short time, and can be one of the most important presents they share.

The Richmond Branch Library at 507 W. Main Street will be hosting a blood drive, and as it will be open from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm, most people who are interested should be able to find a time that works for them. Anyone who is over 16 can donate, but those who are under 17 will need to have parental consent.

Once a donor arrives to make their contribution, they will be greeted and asked a few basic questions. The donation itself takes around 10 minutes, and afterwards, each contributor will be invited to have some light refreshments and relax for a few moments before they continue on with their day.

The Kentucky Blood Center, which is the organization that will be hosting the drive, noted that contributions of blood and blood products are extremely important and can save many lives. Posters that outline why people should support the cause can help to ensure a day like this meets its collection goals, and a poster printing company will have many options for its customers to choose from.

The Richmond Branch Library at 507 W. Main street has booked this event for January 23. Anyone who need more details has been asked to consult the Kentucky Blood Center website.
