Richmond program to help kids beat the heat

Summer in Richmond can be hot and humid, but its Fire Department wants to help kids keep cool and have fun doing so.

The city has organized a schedule of dates for its Spray and Play program, which will be running on a selection of days from June until August. The activity will also be supported by the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

The initiative will see firefighters visit various parks and other locations in the city with their water-spraying equipment, and they will use this to safely drench the kids that drop by with water to help them cool off. Each installment is scheduled to run for one hour, and seven locations are on the list. Parents or guardians who have any questions or concerns can reach the planners of the event at (859)623-8753 or parksandrec@richmond.ky.us.

With the kids out of school and looking for fun, many parents are sure to want to know more about the activities available in their home area. Community guides can supply this information, and they can be prepared by a printing services company.

Richmond will be helping its younger citizens beat the heat with its Spray and Play program on dates starting on Wednesday, June 12. This session will take place at Irvine-McDowell Park, and the final installment will be part of the community’s Back to School Bash on August 9.
