One of the best ways to learn something new is by actually doing it, and this will be the driving force behind a hands-on activity on offer for Richmond kids.
First Boonesborough State Park will be offering living history experience for area youngsters, and it will show them what life was like in the 1700s. Participant will help with a variety of work projects, and a shuttle service will be available to and from the designated parking area for the activity.
The participants in the day will be lending a hand with grinding corn, building a split rail fence and churning butter by hand, and there will be lots of other learning opportunities as well. It will be all about having fun, and parents are invited to enjoy the experience along with their children. Tickets start at $8 for adults and $5 for kids from the ages of six to twelve. Those under five can enter for free.
One of the ways a planner can build a historic flavor for an event is by working with a local poster printing company. It will be able to prepare items that fit in well with a particular time in history.
