History repeats itself. At Fort Boonesborough State Park, near Richmond, history will be repeating itself throughout the month of February, as a number of historical figure drop by the park for ‘Fireside Chats’.
The program is being sponsored through a partnership with the Fort Boonesborough Foundation and the state park. The goal of it is to highlight an interesting and important historical figure every Saturday for the rest of the month.
To promote such programs, nonprofit organizations and parks can use postcard printing to get the word out to current and past supporters. According to Rob Minerich, the manager of the park, the annual events sells out almost every single year. Advanced booking is recommended for people who want to attend the upcoming chats.
The Fireside Chats began on last Sunday with a visit from Daniel Boone. During the visit, a person playing Boone wore period costume while telling stories of his experience in Kentucky and at Fort Boonesborough. Boone and his group of men constructed Fort Boonesborough back in the 1800s as they worked to clear a trail from Tennessee to Kentucky.
Attendees can also elect to attend a ‘Taste of Frontier Fare’ dinner before the chats begin. Dinner is served between 5:30 and 6:30 pm and the chats begin at 6:45 pm.
Tickets for the chats are $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Upcoming chats include Mad Anne Bailey on February 11, the Harpe Brothers on February 18 and Maggie Delaney on February 25.
