Richmond event to put the fun in fundraising

Thanksgiving is a day of feasting for Richmond families, but before their holiday meal, they are invited to lace up their sneakers and hit the road.

The Grace Now Food Pantry helped to make sure everyone in the city has food on their table, and the second annual Wild Turkey 5K will give community members a fun way to support its efforts. All ages can take part, and they can run, walk or roll their way along using a wheelchair or other mobility device.

The organizers of the day explained that the participants can choose to use a chip timer or they can just enjoy a casual walk with friends and family. The goal is for everyone to have fun, and the planned route will include both paved and fine gravel surfaces.

To thank those who choose to get involved in this community minded celebration, the organizers will be distributing tee shirts that boast a snappy graphic design prepared just for the occasion. There will be a collection of canned food at the packet pickup station, and they can also be dropped off on the day of the event. Monetary donations will also be most welcome.

This Thanksgiving fundraiser that will be helping Richmond residents to earn their turkey dinner will be held on November 26th. It is scheduled to be held at Lake Reba, and its registration page includes more details.
