Richmond celebrates its agriculture

Anyone with an interest in farming can get a peek behind the scenes at the upcoming Ag Expo in Richmond.

Hosted by the Madison County Cooperative Extension Service, visitors will be able to choose their own adventure and are free to explore the exhibitions, demonstrations, and contests on offer. The goal of the event is to educate the public about farming and to raise awareness about the importance of agriculture. The Extension Service has no doubt used flyer printing to promote the event and list items at the expo.

Members of the local 4-H organization will be participating. A 4-H Business Club exhibit will highlight the efforts of the young entrepreneurs in the club, offering crafts, jewelry, and other items for sale. A 4-H talent show will put the abilities of the club's members on display. Other exhibitions include a demonstration of drones in agriculture, a ‘guess the cattle's weight’ contest, and a booth from the Madison County beekeepers.

The event will take place on September 11 at the Madison County Fairgrounds, from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm. It will be held rain or shine and is free to the public. Between 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm, the Madison County Beef Cattle Association will be grilling burgers and hotdogs and offering them free of charge. People are encouraged to RSVP for the event by September 8, so that there is enough food for all.
