Novelis, a producer of flat-rolled aluminum products and the largest aluminum recycler on the planet, recently made a second donation to the Science and Mathematics Summer Camp at the College of Science at Eastern Kentucky University.
The donation totaled $7,000. It was given to the camp during a ceremony that took place in the science building on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University at the end of September, during Science and Mathematics Week.
Programs that receive donations from area companies often write letters to say thanks for the Corporate Gifts.
The dean of the College of Science, Dr. Tom Otieno, accepted the check on behalf of the university, and was quoted by the Richmond Register as saying:
"We are very grateful for Novelis’ support.
"We are looking forward to providing another group of young men and women of diverse backgrounds the opportunity to experience the fascinating world of science and mathematics.”
For the past few summers, the College of Science at EKU has run a successful STEM camp program. The camp is designed for students at a variety of ages and aims to make learning about STEM subjects fun and engaging. Camp program include Camp Invention and Hummel Planetarium STEM camp.
