Several Richmond-area companies and individuals were recently recognized by the Berea Chamber of Commerce during its annual banquet and awards ceremony in November.
The Chamber named Lee's Catering as ‘Business of the Year’, just a few months after recognizing the catering company as ‘Business of the Month’. The two owners of Lee's Catering – Phyliss and Steve Carter – are active volunteers who rarely turn down an opportunity to help their community.
In May, the catering company provided free food and drink to passengers who were stuck in Richmond after their Greyhound bus broke down. The company also set up a snack booth at the Battle of Richmond Re-enactment, donating the proceeds from the booth.
Organizations that give out awards can use Stationery printers to produce certificates as well as plaques for the award recipients.
KI USA was named ‘Industry of the Year’ by the Chamber of Commerce. It was one of the first employers in Berea Industrial Park nearly three decades ago. Today, it has more than 120 employees who produce parts and designs for cars such as the Mazda 6 and Honda Accord.
Among the individuals recognized by the Chamber during its ceremony were David Gilliam, who was named ‘Educator of the Year’; Stephanie Rogers, who was named ‘Healthcare Professional of the Year’; and Joe Chowning, who took home the Agriculture Award. Roy Gene Todd was named ‘Man of the Year’ while Gayle Powell was recognized as ‘Woman of the Year’.
