Small business owners in the Richmond area, or those who are considering starting one of their own, are invited to take part in one of the classes being offered through the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Eastern Kentucky University.
The center will be hosting a series of free workshops through the late summer and early fall. They will provide continuing education in such areas as small business legal questions, using search engine optimization techniques to promote their business online, time management skills, the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, pitching their company or products to others, and using social media on a professional basis.
The director of the SBDC, Jason Rainey, hopes that the program will not only give useful infuriation and skills, it will help to build relationships and provide networking opportunities for those who take part. In turn, this will help these small firms to expand, which will provide economic and employment growth for the area. This can provide spinoff benefits to other businesses, such as those that provide services such as business card printing.
There is no charge to attend to courses, but the number of seats is limited. Anyone who would like to take part or find out more information can visit the SBDC website, from which a variety of courses and programming is offered to firms throughout the area.
