For students at Madison Kindergarten Academy at Mayfield, near Richmond, the first 100 days were a cause for celebration. When Day 100 rolled around at the beginning of February, the students and faculty celebrated throughout the day.
One of the objectives for most kindergarten classrooms is teaching the students to count to 100, according to Dr. Shelley Boulden, the principal at the Academy. The school took a very interactive approach to introducing the students to counting to 100 by dedicating a full day to it. Activities during the day included having the kids write their name as many times as possible over the course of 100 seconds.
Some students dressed up as 100-year-olds, walking through the halls of the school with their hair colored gray. Their teachers demonstrated the concept of the big number to them by attaching 100 objects, such as rubber bands or felt hearts, to their shirts. Perhaps the next step will be for the school to use printing services to create 100 Posters or Flyers, each with a different number on them.
At the day's end, the students went out to the school's parking lot, where a staff member dresses as Carl from the Disney-Pixar movie ‘Up’. Carl climbed into a house that was attached to 100 balloons and began to float away in a house, as happens in the film.Get a Free Quote for Flyers Get a Free Quote for Posters
