Four Richmond organizations look for entrepreneurship nominations

Now is the time for Kentuckians to put their choices forward for the 12th annual Excellence in Entrepreneurship Awards (EIEA) program.

EIEA is sponsored by four organizations in the Richmond area: Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation, the Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation, the Eastern Kentucky University College of Business and Technology and The Center for Rural Development. The program will give awards to entrepreneurs in a number of categories, including start-up business, young entrepreneur, for-profit business, and not-for-profit.

The organizers of the program hope recognize people in the area who have created and managed a successful business. The program also aims to promote those individuals who have the entrepreneurial spirit. To encourage people to nominate worthy entrepreneurs, the organizers can use printing services to send letters and Flyers to businesses or schools in the area.

Larry Combs, the chair of the EIEA committee and the director of business services at the Center for Rural Development, noted that the goal of the awards program was also to encourage others to pursue entrepreneurial activity in the state and to increase economic growth in the region.

Nominations for the award are due by June 5 and can be submitted online. Finalists and winners will be noted at the regional awards lunch on September 8 at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset.
