Blood drive dates scheduled for Richmond

Blood donors can literally give the gift of life to those who are ill or injured, and a donation drive will make it convenient for Richmond residents to contribute.

Kentucky Blood Center operates a mobile collection unit that travels throughout the state, and it will be parked at Fort Boonesborough State Park for four different days this spring, summer, and fall. Those who would like to get involved can book their slot ahead of the event, for what is normally a quick process.

When prospective donors arrive, they will be greeted and asked to complete a short questionnaire and health check. If all is well, they will be able to make their donation, and they can then rest, have a light snack and go about the rest of their day.

The Kentucky Blood Center requires up to 400 pints a day to meet the needs of the public. To thank the donors for their generosity, each person who rolls up their sleeve will receive small Corporate Gifts including a T-shirt printed with a special graphic design. More information about scheduling a donation time can be found on the Kentucky Government's Parks website.

Fort Boonesborough State Park will be welcoming blood donors for its collection drives scheduled for May 28, July 2, September 3, and October 22. They will all run from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
