The Eastern Kentucky University Center for the Arts recently announced some of the shows for its sixth season.
The programming will feature a mix of shows for children, shows for adults, and family-friendly fare. One of the highlights of the upcoming season will be a stop by John Mellencamp on his "Plain Spoken Tour," in October. Mellencamp will be appearing with Carlene Carter, June Carter Cash's daughter, as his opening act.
Two comedians are also on the schedule. Jerry Seinfeld and Lewis Black will each be performing at the art center. Seinfeld takes the stage on July 8 and Black performs on October 6.
Family-friendly programming at the EKU center includes "Elf: The Musical," "Peppa Pig Live!," and Seussical."
The arts center is taking a new approach to programming this season. Although it has announced a number of events already, it is moving away from programming shows and concerts well in advance. Top-name musicians and acts are going to be added to the schedule throughout the year, and the center attracts residents from all over, including nearby Richmond.
Centers such as these often use poster printing to inform people of the opportunity to purchase tickets to shows. In this case, members of the Friends of the EKU Center get the first opportunity to purchase tickets, as they went on sale to members June 17. General ticket sales will open on July 28.
