Top-rated festival returns to the area this fall

The 34th annual Festival of the Horse is taking place over four days in early October in the Lexington area.

This event, which has been voted one of the top 20 annual events by the Southeast Tourism Society, will get under with the Fireman's Chili Cook Off, which is now in its 13th year. Guests can purchase samples of chili for $4 a cup. All proceeds from this event will go to support Toys for Tots. Anyone can enter the contest, and may call 502-863-2547 to learn more about it.

The Cook Off will be followed in subsequent days by the Colt and Filly Children's Parade, the Grand Horse Parade, a carnival with rides and games, and a 5K run. Royal Spring Park will be home to the kid zone, pony rides, and horse games.

There will also be arts and crafts for sale, community displays, and food vendors, allowing for something to appeal to every member of the family.

Guests will likely come from surrounding areas such as Lexington to enjoy this family-friendly festival. Local flyer printing companies may help supply advertising materials.

The event will be held in downtown Georgetown from Thursday, October 2 to Saturday, October 5, and admission is free of charge. To learn more about planned events during the festival, call 502-863-5424 or visit the event’s website.
