Restaurants to reopen in Lexington soon

Governor Andy Beshar has announced that Kentucky restaurants can open as of this Friday, May 22, on a limited capacity. Most will open at somewhere between a third and a half of their usual capacity, or continue with takeout service only.

Chef Ouita Mitchel, co-owner of the Family of Restaurants, plans to open restaurants in stages. She says she and three other chefs have been preparing takeout orders on weekends for the Holly Hill Inn.

They plan to have only a few customers per room at the inn. At Windy Corner Market, another she owns, she plans to add more outdoor seating and sell fresh produce and meats.

In the Lexington courthouse, Zims Café will have counter service and takeout only, and The Thirsty Fox Bar will have sandwiches and takeout.

The Blue Hospitality Group co-owner Brian McCarthy will reopen all the group’s restaurants. They have a heavy takeout business too, owning such eateries as Malone’s, OBC Kitchen, Drake's, Aqua Sushi, and Harry's American Bar and Grill.

Ranada's Bistro and Bar plans to have a new floor installed and will expand the patio area. It plans to continue with takeout service and family meals.

Sara Wood, co-owner of Girlsgirlsgirls Burritos, plans to put a system in place to reserve indoor seating. Meanwhile, Bourbon n' Toulouse will continue with curbside takeout only, with a view to expanding outdoor seating on Euclid Avenue eventually.
