New coffee shops take their offerings a step further

Three coffee shops in Lexington will offer customers more than just coffee. Some will have beer, local art, breakfast, lunch and baked goods.

Brewed is a specialty restaurant that serves coffee and beer. It specializes in the pour-over method of making coffee, which involves pouring hot water through a filter with coffee grounds to get the highest caffeine yield.

Opened in mid-June, Brewed has a breakfast menu with quiche, bagels, muffins, brownies, and cookies. The lunch menu has salads, sandwiches and appetizers, and bratwurst is among the options for dinner.

Brewed is open for dining inside and outdoors, and for curbside pickup. With social distancing in place and a limit on the number of customers, it is located at 124 Malibu Drive.

Also, Genesis Coffee House and Eatery is now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and displaying local artists, craftsmen, photographers, and writers, perhaps tempting local art and graphic design buffs to pay a visit.

Serving soup, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, coffee, tea, and soda, Genesis opened July 16 and is located at 1403 North Forbes Road.

Brevede Coffee Co. is an upscale coffee house, bakery and children’s art studio opening this month. It will use a Slayer espresso machine to produce hot drinks, cold brew, and nitro coffee.

The shop will serve European style desserts, breakfast, and lunch, as well as offering workshops for kids five and up. Brevede has a mobile coffee bar too, and is located at 1170 Manchester St.
