The Bella Café and Grill is on its way to the Chevy Chase neighborhood in Lexington in late spring. Owner, Kuni Toyoda says the restaurant will have the everyday dining people crave.
He had been talking with Abbis Larian and his wife about opening this restaurant for about four years, because they planned to retire. It will be located where the former Le Martin Bakery and Zuni Café was.
Toyoda will be renovating the interior, adding a small bar and 66-seat dining room. Dining will be casual and comfortable, with the café open for lunch and dinner. His son Kevin Toyoda, the executive chef, will create the menu.
The owners plan to use fresh local seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh meats, and seafood. They will have ground hamburgers, hand-cut fries, pasta dishes, salmon salad, and specialty sandwiches like French dip.
Larians’ bread and roll recipes will be used, along with baguettes and brioche bread. An effort is also in place try to bring back some of the desserts and pastries Le Martin Bakery and Zuni Café made.
Kuni wants to keep the restaurant simple, and a place where customers can enjoy a good meal, conversation, and drinks. Printers have graphic design staff that create advertising and marketing material for such businesses.
The Bella Café and Grill is expected to open in June 2020. It will be located at 890 East High Street.
