Music festival celebrates Kentuckys musical past

Kentucky is known as the Bluegrass State, and Lexington will be hosting the 43rd annual Festival of the Bluegrass for four days next month.

Just prior to the festival, for two days, children between the ages of 8 and 18 can participate in the Kentucky Bluegrass Music Camp. They will learn all aspects of the music and will perform at the opening of the festival.

The event itself will feature all-ages workshops on topics like the banjo, along with food vendors and animal shows. A number of arts and crafts vendors will be on hand to sell their handmade items such as soaps, jewelry, and clothing.

Some of the musical guests that are confirmed to be performing at this year’s festival are Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice, Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike, and Kentucky Blue. There will also be an after-party with entertainment from The Wooks and the Restless Leg String Band. Camping is also available on the event grounds.

Lexington fans of bluegrass music will no doubt be excited about this annual event. To advertise, organizers have no doubt been working with local Stationery printers to produce items such as Flyers.

The Festival of the Bluegrass will be held at Kentucky Horse Park from June 9 to 12. Tickets cost $100 in advance for all four days or $115 at the gate, or daily tickets are also available. Call 859-253-0806 to learn more.
