Lexington on the run for St. Patricks

The Lexington St. Patrick's Day Festival is taking place in mid-March.

The day will start off with the 10th Shamrock Shuffle 3K race, proceeds from which will benefit Lexington Habitat for Humanity. Runners are encouraged to wear green. There will be a costume contest, as well as prizes for the winners in several age divisions; the top three male and top three female runners will also receive a handmade pottery item. Fees are $22 until February 29, $25 after, and $30 on race day. In-person registration will take place at the Habitat ReStore from March 5 to 11.

After the race, the festival will take place beginning at 11:00 am at the 5/3 Pavilion and Cheapside Park. There will be lots of family-friendly activities, musical performances from acts such as the WSR Pipes and Drums and Roger Drawdy and the Firestarters, dancing, food, and vendors

There will be a short break in the festival when the 37th annual St. Patrick's Day will travel down Main Street beginning at 1:00 pm.

Many of the participants in the parade will no doubt be carrying Banners or Signs that were obtained from local banner printing companies.
