Lexington athletes get fit for a cause

There are two events happening in Lexington next month that will raise funds to fight cancer.

The first one is the Relay for Life Festival of Hope, which will raise funds for the American Cancer Society. It is set to take place on June 4 at Masterson Station Park from 4:00 PM to midnight. In addition to the relay, there will be musical entertainment, food trucks, a beer garden, and family activities. Admission is a $5 donation. To learn more about this event, visit the Facebook page.

Later on in the month, on June 17 and 18, is the 4th annual Roll for the Cure and the 2nd Survive the Night Triathlon. Proceeds will benefit the Lexington Cancer Foundation, Inc.

Roll for the Cure consists of a downtown bike ride of 10, 35, 50, or 95 miles, for which the minimum pledge in order to participate is $100. There will also be a family fun ride with a fee of $10. Fees for the Triathlon are $500 per team of up to 10 people, and this is a 140.7-mile race featuring swimming, bike riding, and running, which will take place at Commonwealth Stadium.
