The Kentuckians Chorus will perform in just over a month’s time at the Laurel County Library. Founded in 1960, the group is currently the Lexington Kentucky Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. It is comprised of men singing and preserving the traditional style of barbershop music that was so popular decades ago.
Known as “barbershoppers” the group is committed to honing the craft of close four-part harmony along with a cappella style singing. It is active in the community, as well. Members range from nine years old to over 70 years of age and each comes from a diverse background.
The group encourages people interested in singing along to visit one of its performances and take a look at opportunities to join in. The group states there is no need to be able to read music and that, if the thrill of performing exists within someone’s soul, this may be the perfect way to let it all out.
