Family-friendly event to teach fire safety

The Fire Prevention Festival is taking place in Lexington early next month.

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Don’t wait – check the date. Replace smoke alarms every 10 years’. Representatives of the fire department will be on hand to provide information on fire safety rules and skills, give CPR lessons, and present the Kasey the Fire Dog Show.

A lot of the planned activities are aimed at children and will include fire truck rides, a petting zoo’ and pony rides. There will also be a kids’ combat challenge, a bike rodeo, and a build-a-truck activity hosted by Home Depot.

The Lexington Police and canine unit will be on hand to give demonstrations. Kids will also have the chance to touch and climb on a variety of fire trucks and other vehicles and there will be free hot dogs, hamburgers, cotton candy, and other treats.

There is also set to be free health screening for adults. Visitors will be able to be screened for vision problems and blood pressure, among other conditions.

Organizers of this Lexington event may invest in flyer printing services to help advertise.

The Fire Prevention Festival will be held at Masterson Station Park on October 2 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Admission is free. To learn more about this event, call 859-231-5600.
