The University of Kentucky Art Gallery is open and has several arts exhibits this fall. There will be exhibits of donor art, photography, and sketches.
Erik Larsen’s photography will be displayed until October 10. Her photos depict the lives of Sami culture in the Artic and the role of the horse in Native American lives. Her photos show rituals in rural communities around the world.
A Celebration of Donors runs until October 24 at the Lexington gallery, and recognizes the many donors that have contributed art, photography, and drawings to the museum. It celebrates the museum’s 40th anniversary.
The photographer Robert C. Gray will exhibit his work, also until October 24. His photos include nature and outdoor scenes, urban life in Lexington, and photography with arranged scenes. He taught photography at the University as an adjunct professor.
The photography of Kitra Cahana will also be exhibited until October 24. The exhibit depicts a teen dance competition in the Canadian Arctic and the journey of immigrants from Honduras to Mexico seeking asylum.
Detailed sketches by Willard Leroy Metcalf and Thomas Satterwhite Noble will be displayed until March 20. Their sketches of trips abroad show birds, trees, scenery, boats, and shipyards, made in graphite and pencil.
