The 4th annual Books-in-Progress Conference will be held over two days this June in Lexington, presented by the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning.
Before the conference starts, those planning to attend can also take part in a preconference retreat. This all-day event will feature writing, yoga and revision with A. J. Verdelle. This is completely separate and costs $75.
A welcome reception will also take place the evening before the conference begins.
The conference itself is set to feature keynote speaker Bobbie Ann Mason, author of several Books including ‘The Girl in the Blue Beret’. There will be breakout sessions on topics such as fiction, selling your Books, and all about agents. Also included are breakfast, giveaways, and a literary luncheon, which is a fundraising event for the Carnegie Center and requires a ticket for entry.
Guests can sign up for 10-minute pitches to literary agents for $25 each or take part in ‘Books-in-progress Idol’, in which agents and editors judge Books’ opening pages.
To make sure as many authors as possible know about this upcoming Lexington event, local Print companies may be asked to provide advertising materials such as Booklets, Posters, and Flyers.
The Books-in-Progress Conference will take place at the Carnegie Center from June 5 to 6. Fees are $175 or $150 for students.
