The 17th annual EAGALA Conference is taking place starting at the end of this month.
The organization is dedicated to providing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to veterans, those with mental illnesses, and those recovering from catastrophic injuries. It also helps educate professionals in Equine Assisted Learning.
Those who wish to get an early start can participate in several pre-conferences on March 29. Topics that will be covered include mental health first aid and best business practices. The pre-conferences are aimed at professionals who are working on their certification. The cost of these is over and above conference fees, and will include lunch.
The conference itself will feature workshops, including some taking place in the horse arena. Some of the subjects will be how to set up a professional practice, information about the latest clinical methods, and new techniques for treating patients. Attendees can chose between several breakout tracks. There will also be speakers such as Heather Plett and exhibit tables from those who provide products and services related to EAGALA. In addition, a raffle and auction will be held.
It is likely that many of the exhibitors will be from the Lexington area and, to get more attention, they may invest in banner printing services.
The EAGALA Conference will be held at the Lexington Convention Center and the Kentucky Horse Park from March 30 to April 1. Fees are $490 for EAGALA members and $515 for nonmembers. To learn more, call 1-801-754-0400.
