Lexington’s Awesome Inc will be hosting two weeks of summer camp this year. Aspiring computer coders are encouraged to register in advance.
The 2021 summer camps will teach children aged 10-15 years old the basics of computer coding. Students will learn how to create video games, websites and phone apps, in a fun, interactive environment. Programming skills will be developed for languages including JavaScript, HTML and CSS, for applications in iOS, Construct, and Android.
Class sizes are limited to 20 students per week, so that each child can work at his or her own pace, with helpful feedback from the instructors. In addition to teaching the basics of coding, the camp helps develop creative thinking and problem solving skills. The students will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team. Participants will receive their project portfolio and files to take home at the end of the camp.
Each child must bring his or her own laptop for the class. A limited number of laptops are available to rent for the week by emailing info@awesomeincu.com. Scholarships for the camp are also available from the program’s sponsor, Verizon. Sponsorship of Awesome Inc’s classes may incorporate the use of Verizon’s Logo Design on promotional materials.
The Week of Code Summer Camp will be offered over June 7 to 10 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and over July 12 to 15 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Early drop-off is available up to one hour before the start of the camp. The total cost per student for the week is $549.00. Awesome Inc is located at 348 East Main Street in Lexington.
