The Fayette Mall in Lexington will have a new Mexican restaurant opening next month. Named Agave & Rye, it will focus on specialty tacos, tequila, and bourbon.
The co-owner Yavonne Sarber says that they decided to try a Mexican restaurant after years of running a fine dining restaurant. Their specialty taco menu has a variety of ingredients including chicken, beef, duck, kangaroo, pork, fish, and vegetables.
A full-service rustic wood bar will have 80 types of tequila and bourbon available for customers, along with wine, beer, and mixed drinks. Inside are tables and chairs with cushions, providing a casual dining experience.
The specialty taco menu serves the Rooster taco, made with mac and cheese, fried chicken, hot sauce, and sweet pickles served on a corn or soft flour tortilla. Another popular item is The Alderman with spicy grilled steak, salsa, corn salad, and cotija cheese. There are 18 different tacos to choose from in total.
Some of the side dishes are corn fritters, mac and cheese, refried beans with bourbon and bacon, corn salad, and coconut lime rice. Lexington has printing services with graphic design department that design Menus, gift cards, and logos for restaurants like this.
The chain has a restaurant located in Covington and plans to open two more in Northern Kentucky in the future.
