Five Below, a Philadelphia-based specialty store that carries items costing $5 or less, is moving into Kansas and Missouri, and will soon open an Olathe location.
There are more than 250 stores in the chain thus far, and Five Below is making its first entry into the Kansas City, Missouri, area, where it will open three stores. The retailer opened a total of 62 stores in 2014, and expects to top that this year, by opening 70 stores by the end of 2015.
The stores are approximately 7,500 square feet in area, and the latest locations are in Kansas City at the Tiffany Springs Market; in Blue Springs, Missouri at Adam's Dairy Landing; and in Olathe at the Olathe Pointe Shopping Center.
Five Below's CEO, Joel Anderson, said that opening the new stories is exciting for the company, and notes that Kansas is the 24th state in which the company has opened a location. The inventory is aimed at teens and preteens, and sells items for between $1 and $5.
Five Below sells the likes of snacks, candy, bath and body products, and fashion accessories. It joins chains like Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollar in the retail sector.
Managers at the Olathe store could work with a banner printing company on a festive banner to display at the store opening.
